Throwback Outfit Inspo: Chloe Sevigny

If you aren’t already familiar with Chloe Sevigny’s origin story, let me tell you – it’s a good one. As teenager growing up in Connecticut, Chloe was literally plucked off the streets of New York by an editor at a fashion magazine and over the next few years became a certified It Girl. See this is why I need to stop dressing like a piece of shit half the time.

Chloe stood out for her quirky street style that heavily featured thrifted and vintage pieces, and her unique look (at one point she went full-Britney and shaved her head.. well minus the breakdown).

in a way, Chloe Sevigny reminds me a little of the original Devon Lee Carlson – someone who came from relative obscurity and rose to prominence for their sense of unique personal style that spawned legions of followers.

read on for seven of our favorite Chloe Sevigny outfits to inspire you too to dress however the fuck you want to:

Mini Dress + Silver Heels

Sometimes it’s less about what you wear, and more about how you wear it. In this case, pairing this fuzzy mini dress with a high pony topped off with a bow and little silver heels is *chef’s kiss*. Plus side, if things don’t work out with the dress you can repurpose it into a pillow!

Sheer Top + Low Waisted Baggy Jeans

Minus the jacket, this outfit is totally something you’d see people wearing today. Heck, I wore something like this last weekend! Love the sexiness of the sheer top paired with a looser baggy jean. We’d recommend pairing this with a pair of slingbacks – if you want to switch it up you can even wear ones in a brighter color

Velour Vest  +  Flared Jeans

We love the simplicity of the this medium-wash flared jeans and black top combo. Again, something you could totally wear today without anyone batting an eyelid

Black Dress + Funky Tights

No Chloe Sevigny outfit list would be complete without this absolutely iconique look that she wore to a movie premiere. I never knew that tiger print tights existed, let alone that I needed them, but here we are. With patterned tights having a moment right now, this is actually something that could be recreated today. If mammalian tights are too much for you, just wear patterned tights in an unexpected color or print with a simple LBD or LWD.

Jersey Tee + Ballet Flats

Tell me this isn’t straight out of today’s “Bloquette” aesthetic

Furry Coat + Trousers

While we can’t speak for Chloe, we’d obviously recommend faux and/or thrifted if you’re going to wear a coat with any fur on it. Here Chloe dresses up classic black trousers and a turtleneck with a statement jacket. THIS is how you look cute while dressing warm

Slip-Style Dress + Pink Shoes

Our one standing piece of fashion advice is to always include something unexpected in every outfit. In this case, Chloe wears a simple slip-style maxi shift dress, but pairs it with bright pink shoes. This instantly makes the outfit more memorable and interesting
