if you’ve been paying attention to trends recently, you’ll know that workplace chic, and suit vests in particular have recently come back into fashion in a big way. Vogue anointed it one of Fall 2022’s must have items, and we’re continuing to see this trend gain traction.
below are 3 different types vests to scour for at your local thrift store, and some inspo on how to wear them – from classic to contemporary.
Workwear-Inspired
For when you literally need to work on an Excel spreadsheet at 4 and go to the club at 9. The work-wear inspired suit vest is polished and classy. Wear it with a more fitted, bootcut pant like Queen Kate herself, or with a slouchy trouser like Kendall. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
Grandpa Vest
Find a funky, old-school vest for a more laid back, quirky look. Here it’s paired with a white tee under, with both the vest buttoned and open. Jeans are an easy option for this look, or you can step it up and throw on a pair of leather pants like Bella
Denim Vest
Okay I don’t know what to say – Bella Hadid loves a good suit vest. We’ve actually come across a lot of denim vests in our experience thrifting, or if you’re really crafty you can even upcycle an old denim jacket or shirt into a vest. Here Bella pairs it with a neutral turtleneck and jeans (who knew we’d love a Canadian summer tuxedo). And just to throw it way back, and tie it all together with the resurrection of everything 90s, we also see a classic Rachel Green outfit – denim vest, over a black mini vest and mules.
